Sea Of Thieves Shows Pirates Of The Caribbean Gameplay, More Coming This Weekend

If you’ve ever had the urge to plunder the seas and murder several wives, Black Beard style, but don’t want to spend the rest of your life in jail, the MMORPG Sea of Thieves might be just the boat to board. Unfortunately it’s still in closed Alpha, but a newly released video of the Alpha version 0.1.1 shows how this pirate-simulator is looking to become ship-shape rather quickly. After the two hours when the player realizes that he or she saw and did pretty much everything that this $60 game has to offer, the fun gets replaced first with disbelief and then with anger. The anger especially amplifies when one realizes that they were mislead by the developers into believing that the beta gameplay that was all over YouTube before the release was showing just 20% of the game.

But hearing from Sea of Thieves creative director Mike Chapman, it's not just the movies that form the basis for this expansion; it's also the original Disney theme park ride on which the film series is based. Even the title is a reference, nodding to a song heard during the ride. As you can see from the trailer, the update brings new islands and outposts to explore, while the overall polish of the game is shinier than a freshly scrubbed deck. Made by legendary developer Rare, it’s no surprise to see such rapid progress.

Boasting one of the most welcoming communities in gaming with millions of regular players, Sea of Thieves offers Forums and resources for diehard fans and streamers. Fans of Rare's excellent pirate role-playing simulator, Sea of Thieves, got quite a surprise during the June 13 Xbox reveal showcase.

Sea of Thieves saw frequent collaborations with other Microsoft franchises. The Bird and Bear Figurehead, based on Rare's own Banjo-Kazooie series, was released in July 2018. Ships based on the Halo series and the Gears of War franchise were released in June and November 2019 respectively, as well as a ship set based on Ori and the Will of the Wisps released in March 2020. It had partnered with Mongoose Publishing to release a tabletop game titled Sea of Thieves Roleplaying Game in October 2019. Titan Comics debuted a comic series written by Jeremy Whitley in March 2018.

You know like there is sometimes this big AAA game with elaborate story, deep progressions systems, huge production values and tons of content, yet sometimes you still find actuall gameplay a chore ? It might not have tons of content, story is non existing, same with progression outside cosmetics. Every single thing yopu are doing is just pure joy.

This means that Crews that encounter each other on the seas can choose how to play the game. They can battle it out for each other's gathered Treasure either in Ship to Ship combat by utilising the Ship's Cannons and clever maneuvering tricks or in Close Combat by utilising a variety of Weapons. The other alternative would be to work together in Player Alliances and share all the hard-earned Treasure with all the Ship Crews in the Fleet. Sea of Thieves is a Co-op and Player versus Player multiplayer game where players take on the role of Pirates sailing on the open sea looking for Treasure and battling each other. All this is to earn Gold and Reputation with various Trading Companies to work your way up to becoming a Pirate Legend. "You go to Sea of the Damned and Sunken Kingdom locations twice as part of this story," Chapman explained.

The winners would receive one of four golden bananas (each valued at £20,000) as rewards. Rare also hosted a competition which tasked fans to create achievements for the game. Several stress tests and betas were released ahead of the game's official launch on 17 March. At launch, many players reported that they could not log into the game. Duncan said that Rare underestimated the server capacity as the number of people logging in to play the game during the launch period was unexpectedly high. Various fixes have been released to improve the game's online infrastructure.

Combat was awful, puzzles were way too easy, misssions were all the same, and I don't enjoy going around with Boom headshot no objective. It is a good game if all you want to do is breathing in the atmosphere and talk with friends. Like I've said, it's fun for a little while because the core mechanics are really good but I would just use game pass while checking out some other stuff that's on it and rather not buy into it if I was you. It wouldn't be splitscreen couch co-op, but if you have an Xbox or pc each then yes you can coop it. The Dlc is free with the game and would be made up of 5 tall tales.
